When it comes to headaches, it is important to remember that this is a symptom that can be caused by a variety of reasons. When we simply alleviate or eliminate the symptom, the cause does not disappear, and the pain will return. If you often suffer from headaches, do not constantly swallow pills or rely on folk remedies – you need to consult a doctor to establish the cause and prescribe treatment.
But headaches can be relieved with herbal preparations, for example, based on peppermint. For medicinal purposes, peppermint is most often used ; raw materials are its leaves, containing up to 2.5-2.7% of essential oil, the basis of which is menthol. Mint has an anticonvulsant, analgesic, sedative, disinfectant, antipyretic, diaphoretic, carminative, choleretic effect.
Peppermint should not be used as a medicine for hypotension (low blood pressure) and pregnancy. Do not exceed recommended doses : an overdose can cause respiratory distress and cardiac activity.
